Group Sessions
Our tennis players have two coach-led group sessions per week at the Northumberland Club and two strength and conditioning sessions at the sport centre on campus. The sessions are arranged around the busy academic calendar and in addition our players have the opportunity to book individual courts to hit with teammates whenever they want, free of charge. A pre-season training program is scheduled each year involving a mix of on-court hitting and off-court conditioning to prepare our players for the season ahead. Hill sprints never get any easier..
As Head Coach of the tennis teams John Henderson delivers both the men's and women's practice sessions throughout the season. John has over 25 years of experience in tennis, is an LTA Level 5 Master Performance Coach and is also Head of Tennis at the Northumberland Club, working with a range of ages and standards. John has a great rapport with all of our players who find his engaging and supportive coaching style a perfect fit for our university tennis program.

Strength and Conditioning
Our strength and conditioning department support high performance student-athletes in their pursuit of sporting excellence. They provide individualised coaching delivered within a programme of athletic development and injury mitigation. They work hard with John to develop our players into robust and powerful athletes able to cope with the high demands of competitive tennis throughout a BUCS season.
