Competitive Opportunities
Team Table Tennis
Playing table tennis as part of a team is the best way to enjoy the sport and it's not only in BUCS that our students get to experience this. The club's coaches and contacts help students gain places on Northumbria and British League teams while our strongest players are often picked to represent Northumberland in the County Championships.
The yearly Northumberland County Championships are attended in numbers by our students with two of our own players holding the senior men's and women's titles: Adam Webster and Charlotte Weatherby.
But it's not just local events on offer though. The club supports its members to travel away from Newcastle to Table Tennis England Grand Prix events to gain extra match practice and to challenge for titles.
BUCS also host their own individuals event and it attracts the UK's best student table tennis players. Singles, doubles and mixed doubles titles are at stake each year and the squad enjoy a fun weekend away.
Individual Competitions
External Training Bases
The club can help their most ambitious students looking for extra training opportunities outside of the university program. Head coach Graeme runs his own club (North East Table Tennis) on a Tuesday evening which attracts some of the best local junior and senior players in the area. For those happy to travel a bit further south we have connections with clubs in the Durham and Cleveland area such as Bishop Auckland, Ormesby and Swerve.
